Until Sunday, I firmly believed that awards and recognition were things that did not mean much to me as I knew that I always give my most at work. (This is not applicable to personal life as I am very lazy). But sometimes it does get into your head that maybe you are not as good as you believe you are.
In March, I was asked if I would like to move departments as my services were more needed there. I took the job as it was a new challenge and would give me something to learn. But sometimes I thought I was asked to go as I might not have been good at what I was doing and people were not happy with the way I ran the department.
Now, on Sunday, I was awarded the 'future leader of the year award for the 2006/07' for my hotel. It was according to me a great achievement. And, I guess by getting the award, I cannot doubt the management for moving me
to another department and what they said then.
to another department and what they said then.So this whole episode has taught me somethings, namely,
a) Regonition does motivate people
b) I am not all a saint that I potray to be... as Maria Sharapova puts it, "You cannot be a tennis player and Mother Teresa at the same time."
